These changes are the result of the aging process. I know it sounds horrible, but relax, it's not the end of the world. Turn that frown upside down. Have no fear, I'll teach you how to work around this inevitable obstacle.

What Type of Yoga Mat Should I Buy?

I've been asked this many times by my students:  "What kind of yoga mat should I buy?"

Places in Honolulu I eat at.

How's it going people? A client of mine asked me the other day to write a blog on where I go to grab a bite to eat. This one was a little hard I have to admit due to my current standards in quality of food. The places I eat out at are minimal. I always recommend to people, clients, friends or family that the best place to eat healthy is at home. However, I too from time to time get lazy so here's a list of places I grind at. Feel free to comment and let me know where you get your grub on.

Thyroid, continued

 Hi All,

How is your Thyroid?

Bail the Beer Gut, lose the spare tire.

Hello everyone, hope all is well in the New Year. It's 1/11/11, and it's time to make a wish. A client yesterday told me he wanted to "bail his beer gut, lose the spare tire" so he could keep up with his kids. I commended him for that, but I also asked him "how is he going to do that?", he responded "see you more often." But for those of us who can't get quality instruction from a Strength & Conditioning Coach here's some tips to follow to "bail the beer gut". First, decrease or eliminate alcohol altogether.

Why do Yoga?

For those people out there who aren't sure if yoga is for them, I'd like to put it out there that a person doesn't need to be a stereotypical "yogi" to do yoga.  Although many people who have been practicing yoga for awhile discover that yoga goes well beyond the realm of physical postures, most of us (myself included) don't start out understanding that.  So before you count yoga out because you don't think you're flexible enough, calm enough, or spiritual enough, check out some of the reasons why yoga is good for the mind and body.

10 rules on how to train to build quality muscle and get strong

Be rewarded for your work by following these mandatory principles.

1. Fuel Up (EAT CLEAN)

How many calories should you be eating if you want to lose weight?

The answer:  It's relative. There really is no magic number of calories you should eat each day to lose weight. While some people can lose weight eating around 1,500 calories, you can establish your own personal caloric necessity with a little math.

First off: Calculate your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)

Your BMR is the amount of energy your body needs to function. We use about 60% of the calories we consume each day for basic bodily functions such as breathing. Other factors that influence your BMR are your height, current weight, age, environment and sex.
